Maine Nordiques U18 Tier 1 Team is Granted a Bid to Nationals

The Maine Nordiques U18 team has had a huge year. This is the first year the organization has kept a top ten nationally ranked spot the entire year. Currently, the 18s team is ranked 7th nationally, after this weekend’s regionals games.

Maine Nordiques U18 team played in the New England Regionals this past weekend. They started their weekend off facing Mid-Fairfield Jr. Rangers and winning their first game on April 9th, with a score of 5-2. Game number two was Saturday at 10:10 am facing off against Connecticut Elite winning with a score of 6-2. In the third game, they won 4-2, against South Kent Selects Academy, putting them in the semi-finals; following the next day. They started their semi-finals with a game against Northern Cyclones academy resulting in an 8-2 win for The Nordiques. The Nordiques would finish a loss to Mount St. Charles in the New England District Championship game 2-1 (3-1 EN) Finishing their season with a record of 41-8-3. Anthony Galante, Ryan Panico, and Jack Kurrle combined got a total of 30 points for the weekend. The Maine Nordiques 18U officially has 8 players tendered thus far.

The Maine Nordiques 18U team came home in hopes for a USAHockey National bid. This morning Head Coach, Nick Skerlick, and General Manager, Eric Soltys, received a call from Maine Amateur Hockey Association President, Mike Keaney, stating that the Maine Nordiques 18U team has been granted one of the four USA Hockey National Bids. The team is excited to keep up their practices, determination, and hard work as they prepare for USA Hockey 2021 Chipotle National tournament; which will be held in St. Louis from April 28th- May 3rd.
